Highbridge as a Classroom

All scientists love to share their knowledge and we are no different here at Highbridge. Our doors are always open for classes, workshops, or casual lunch-and-learns.

An important part of our mission at Highbridge is to share a deeper understanding of materials and testing with our clients and emerging professionals. We feel there is no better way to learn than to actually witness the work in person and even try your hand at the equipment. We love to watch guests have that moment of insight when they’re scanning a petrographic thin section under the microscope for themselves, or having the satisfaction of crushing a sandstone core sample in the compression machine.

Please feel free to contact us if you’d like to arrange a visit. In fact, give us a call if you’re in the neighborhood. We’re always happy to have a spontaneous tour as long as we’re not out in the field.

Highbridge has played host to the following groups:

  • Graduate classes in architecture, engineering, and historic preservation. Our staff have been lecturers and faculty at Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania. Thesis students regularly use our facilities to supplement their work.

  • Professional societies and trade groups. We have run full-day workshops for groups such as the Association for Preservation Technology International.

  • Museum curatorial groups such as the New York Museum of Modern Art, and government agencies such as the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.

  • Client visits. We regularly host small informal tours when clients drop by, or plan all-day events for larger groups visiting from multiple office locations.
